Terms and conditions of the PMI Learning Agreement:
1) Teaching
Instrumental music lessons are organised into two term blocks (semesters) per study year with a total of 36 music lessons. The calendar of the study year, general terms and conditions, and tuition fees can and should be viewed and downloaded from our website: www.premierinstitute.eu.
Lessons take place at our centre, Nagyszalonta street 51 exclusively, or online through Teams or Zoom platforms.
Under this agreement, the Institute undertakes to provide individual music lessons in order to develop Student's music skills.
There are three courses: 75 minutes (reserved for advanced level older music students or adults), 50 minutes, and 25 minutes (reserved for primary school age children) long lessons.
The music lessons are not public, third Parties (including Parents) cannot take part in those. The companion of the Student is entitled to wait in the premises – entrance hallway - of the Institute or, preferably, outside of the Institute. If you are waiting on the Institute's premises, please note that music lessons are taking place in the rooms and wait in silence.
After enrolment, the Parties will agree on a date in the timetable at which the Student will receive his/her music lessons regularly throughout the study year.
2) Tuition Payment
The tuition fee must always be paid in advance either for the semester, or in two instalments (half-semester) directly to the Institute by bank transfer or in person in cash.
The music teachers are employed and contracted by the Institute and the Institute settles their salaries.
The tuition fee does not include examination fees (i.e. ABRSM or RSL Rockschool) and the cost of sheet music.
Cash payments should be made before or during the first lesson of the study semester/half semester (depending on the package chosen).
If payment does not arrive latest 24 hours after the first lesson then the Student will lose his/her place in the timetable and cannot resume lessons until the payment has been settled and may end up losing their place in the timetable altogether.
The Student/Parent cannot demand repayment or deduction from the Institute of the
already paid tuition fees (or whatever portion of it).
Detailed information on tuition, packages (semester/half semester) and payment terms can be found on our website.
3) Absences
If the music lesson is missed due to a reason that arises in the Institute/Teacher's interest, the Student has the opportunity to make up the music lesson during the given study year/semester at a pre-arranged time agreed to by all Parties. In case of impediment of the Teacher, he/she is entitled to provide a suitable Substitute
for the lesson instead of himself/herself, with the approval of the Institute. The Institute reserves the right to make up the lesson online instead of in person.
The Student is not entitled to visit the Institute in case of illness (including a cold).
If, in the event of illness, the Student cancels the participation in the music lesson, he/she
(or the Parent) must immediately – in advance - indicate (by e-mail/ or telephone/SMS) the fact of the absence and the reason for it.
In case of the Student's mild illness, the music lesson can be held online (on Skype) at the usual time after prior consultation with the Institute (Email and telephone/SMS).
If the Student is not in a condition to be able to have the lesson(s) online then the lesson(s) can be made up the following way: if the student is enrolled for 25 minute lessons then 5 minute extra lesson time will be added (on top of the 25 minutes) for 5 consecutive weeks. If the Student is enrolled for 50 minute lessons then 10 minutes extra time will be added for 5 consecutive weeks. Finally, if the Student is enrolled for 75 minute lessons, then 15 mins. will be added for 5 consecutive weeks.
If the Student absence occurs at the end of the semester/half semester programme, then there will be no make up lessons provided.
In certain medical cases, if the Student is unable to attend lessons for a longer period of time - four or more consecutive weeks -, he or she has the option of postponing the commenced studies to a later semester (this has to be discussed with Institute).
4) Communication
All communication between the Parties should go through the central PMI email address:
info@premierinstitute.eu in order for us to be able to effectively handle all situations and
for the Institute to be able to oversee and react to each situation.
We ask that Parents/Students show respect to other students who are having their lessons:
1. If there is a need, the Parent should talk to the Teacher at the beginning of the lesson rather than at the start of the next Student’s lesson.
2. We ask that office queries be directed to the above email address and/or the PMI
phone: 0036303629741, as the Institute leadership are also teaching fully booked with students.
5) Changing Instruments/Time of Lessons
It is possible to change a chosen instrument but only at the beginning of a new semester, so far as a relevant Teacher is at the disposal of the Institute and has time in his/her schedule.
Changing the times of lessons is not possible. If, for some emergency reason the lessons have to be re-scheduled in the timetable then this can only be done with the approval of the Teacher and the Institute.
6). Guidelines/Expectation for Conduct
Tobacco/cigarette, alcohol and drug use is not permitted on the premise of the Institute.
At the premise of the Institute, the Student is expected to adhere to the general civilised behaviour between both peers and with the Teachers. The Institute does not tolerate to any degree psychological and/or physical abuse, in case of any of these behaviours this entails immediate dismissal from the programme(s) and no refund of whatever portion of the tuition fee(s).
In case of damage, the Institute shall be entitled to claim monetary compensation for the damage (i.e. damage to instrument).
In order to provide the undisturbed education of other students, in case of repeated disciplinary actions, the Institute shall be entitled to dismiss unruly students.
7) Examination, Concerts
The Institute can provide an opportunity to take part in British examinations (ABRSM/Rockschool)
for those who enrol until 31 October for instrumental lessons and indicate their wish to participate in such an exam. After this date, the Institute does not assume any exam preparation for exams held in May/June of the given study year.
The Teacher acting on behalf of the Institute shall decide on the basis of the competence of the Student whether the Student can undertake an exam.
Registration for the examination is handled by the Institute on behalf of the Student, but the Student may only use the service for a fee.
The Institute may also make audio/video recordings during the period of preparation for the examination and the registration process for the examination.
There is one concert per year organised by the Institute. The end of year concert is in May of each year. The audience must purchase tickets to this concert.
8) Live piano accompaniment
(for violin/voice/marimba students)
If the performance at the concert requires the assistance of a piano accompanist, the cost of the rehearsal fee (5,000HUF per rehearsal session) is accepted and borne by the Student/Parent.
9) Force Majeure
If, due to a situation beyond the control of the Parties (Force Majeure), the operation of the Institute is temporarily modified (e.g. transition to digital/online education due to a pandemic), the Student/Parents cannot demand repayment from the Institute for the fees already paid, nor demand make-up lessons for the lessons missed. Some other examples of Force Majeure would be: terrorist attack/political upheaval, fire, prolonged power outage, extreme weather circumstances.
By paying the tuition fee, the Parties acknowledge and accept the Learning Agreement of
Premier Music Institute/Premier Zenei Intézet.
The Agreement is valid for the full duration of their study at the Institute or as long as the Student is committed to the Institute - study year/semester/half-semester.
The Student further acknowledges that deliberate and serious breach of the above conditions will lead to the termination of the agreement.
